Land Rover Chooses GSE and Sorion for DC Tooling System

Land Rover has chosen a combination of GSE Techmotive and Sorion Electronics to develop and supply a fully integrated DC tooling system for their forthcoming range of vehicles.

Sorion is providing GSE (the main contractor) bespoke hardware for the operator user interface. It is also providing a comprehensive fastening data as well as the necessary software integration into Land Rover’s manufacturing IT systems.

Working closely together, GSE and Sorion are developing a state of the art fastening traceability and rectification system that will enable Land Rover to guarantee the status and quality of all vehicle critical–fastenings.

Sorion Provides Door Assembly Process Control System for Intier

Sorion has provided Intier — a global supplier of sub assembly systems to automotive OEM’s who are building the door casings for the forthcoming Land Rover — with an integrated  system of networked panel PC’s, wireless barcode readers and an NT server to allow the operators to build the correct variant of door casing and capture all of the batch and unique serial number data.

The system integrates with welding machines and punches ensuring  correct build level. Completed assemblies are sequentially controlled into the dispatch stillages and traceability data forwarded to the site database.

This project further expands Sorion’s long term relationship with Intier in which Sorion performs all process control and test for MINI cockpits.

More  Projects

Sorion is working on a number of projects related to new Land Rover vehicles both directly for and with their major suppliers.

Direct projects include the exclusive provision of all J1962 Diagnostics Connectors for all facilities on site, Data Capture and Server integration for the majority of the PLC based test and setting systems, a fool proofing system to ensure the correct fitment of the EPB cables and various vehicle electrical assembly aids.

Projects for suppliers include ruggedised connectors for Rapidcharge and Glenborough Engineering and Tooling interface hardware and software for CAS.
