Automotive dating was top of the agenda recently when
‘Autolinks’ rolled into Birmingham for the seventh year in a row. More than
25 companies from the region’s supply chain showcased their expertise and
capabilities during face-to-face meetings with car manufacturers including
Aston Martin, SAIC and BMW.
The event, which was backed by the Manufacturing Advisory Service –West
Midlands Auto, UKTI and Birmingham City University, also gave firms the
opportunity to talk to technology partners and explore the potential of
knowledge transfer partnerships for developing new products and meeting the
low carbon agenda. It is anticipated that in excess of 100 meetings were
held during the day, with early estimates suggesting millions pounds of new
work could have been identified for the West Midlands.
The 16th November saw Sorion at the AeroLink 2010 conference at Farnborough
Following the success of the inaugural Aerolink Farnborough in 2009, Aerolink returned to Farnborough at a new venue, The Holiday Inn Farnborough, on the 16th November. Bringing together more buyers, more engineers, and more companies from across the aerospace supply chain for you to meet with than ever before.
The key to Aerolink’s success is that it provides a forum for organisations involved in Aerospace & Defence and associated industries to meet and explore business opportunities. Aerolink Farnborough attracted a wide range of delegates interested in purchasing, R&D, collaboration, engineering and innovation.
The 24th November saw Sorion at the 4th Advanced Powertrain Control Symposium, at Millennium Point Birmingham
International experts have
gathered at Birmingham City University to discuss what we will be driving on the
roads in the future.
On Wednesday 24 November saw the Fourth Advanced Powertrain Control Symposium at
Millennium Point. The event brought together engines, hybrid vehicle and
alternative fuels experts to share developments in the area of the automotive
industry known as powertrain control, which refers to the components that
generate power and deliver it to the wheels while optimising fuel economy and
emissions.
Major names from the automotive
world were present including Jaguar Land Rover, Morgan Motor Company and
Ricardo. Delegates from as far a field as Japan and India gave speeches and the
keynote address was given by Dr Daryao Khatri, Vice President of SAE India.
The Symposium is held every two years, and this year’s key themes included the
latest developments in alternative fuels, hybrid vehicles and safety critical
systems (systems whose failure or malfunction may result in serious injury to
people or damage to equipment or the environment).
The programme was closed by an address by Charles Morgan, grandson of the
Founder of Morgan Motor Cars. Symposium convenor, Dr. Manjit Singh Srai, said:
“The automotive industry is facing huge challenges to reduce engine emissions
and increase fuel efficiency as global oil production begins to fall. The
symposium brings together leading automotive manufacturers and companies
developing new tools, technologies and systems to optimise not only conventional
petrol and diesel powertrains but also explore emerging trends in alternative
fuels and hybrid vehicles”.
Sorion counts among its customers leading manufacturers such as Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Honda, Jaguar Land Rover, Lamborghini, Nissan and Toyota. It also works with Tier 1 suppliers such as Denso, Lear and Magna Automotive.
