Sorion Electronics Enjoys Success at Industry Exhibitions

Sorion Electronics at Smart Factory Expo, Liverpool

A very busy month in November saw Sorion Electronics participate in 3 exhibitions across the UK, allowing us to directly connect with hundreds of professionals from the automotive, aerospace and other engineering sectors.

The Sorion stand at Smart Factory Expo, Liverpool, 15-16 November 2017

Beginning the month at Birmingham’s NEC, we exhibited in the new Connected Manufacturing Zone at Advanced Engineering 2017, a dedicated new arena to exchange Industry 4.0 knowledge, ideas and technologies.

Two weeks later we took part in Smart Factory Expo at Liverpool Exhibition Centre. Run by The Manufacturer magazine, Smart Factory Expo is the UK’s biggest showcase for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

Finally we visited the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, where we took part in the Manufacturing Management Show, the UK’s only show dedicated solely to manufacturing management.

Our main objective at all three events was to highlight our latest end-to-end assemblytest reporting solutions that manufacturers can incorporate into their operations to improve efficiencies, reduce errors and remain competitive in the world of smart factories. The shows were a great opportunity to chat to clients old and new and share our latest products and developments.

We would like to thank everyone who visited our stand at the exhibitions. We hope that you enjoyed your visit and that you received the answers you were looking for.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or feedback that you would like to share.

Sorion Electronics Limited is set to restructure its electronics development and design function currently operated through its sister company Sorion Developments Limited. Sorion Electronics specialise in the design and manufacture of some of the most advanced electrical test and assembly process control solutions.

Their bespoke solutions allow automotive and manufacturing companies to maximise their operational efficiency and be highly responsive to changing circumstances. Sorion Developments is an electronics design consultancy specialising in electronics product design and development, printed circuit board design and embedded firmware design and coding.

Whilst the two companies operate independently and are both commercial entities, Sorion Electronics contracts a proportion of its electronics design elements of their electrical test and assembly process control projects to Sorion Developments.

Over the past five years, Sorion Electronics has undergone a period of extensive development and growth. Turnover has increased year-on-year over that past five years which has led the company to invest in and increase the size of their production facilities and offices.

The restructuring will provide quantifiable synergies for both companies, and for Sorion Developments the move will mean their operations will be able to grow quicker through capitalising on greater in-house resource and enhanced software support.

Steve Hayes, Commercial Director at Sorion Electronics commented: “The increasing demand for Sorion Electronics has led to an increase in reliance on Sorion Developments. Moving the Sorion Developments function to be an internal operation within Sorion Electronics at the same location will mean there will be greater integration which in turn will lead to efficiencies, greater economies of scale and improved quality and lead times for all of our customers.”

Paul Maisey, the Technical Director at Sorion Developments will head the electronics design and development operation at Sorion Electronics whilst also becoming a shareholder. Paul commented: “This is a fantastic move which provides the perfect opportunity for both companies to capitalise on each other’s strengths which will allow for greater growth and increased operational efficiencies.

“Sorion Electronics has an excellent growth projection and I am looking forward to developing the electronics design function and being part of the company’s future success.”

Sorion Electronics was founded in 1990 and employs 45 people at its premises in Ladywood, Birmingham.
