THE SOLUTION

The Sorion team have built a bespoke test bench incorporating the following:

• Standard Sorion test rack
• Console location fixture
• Mid-Point Harness Connection / Parking Assembly
• Test harnesses
• Sorion’s Sextans software running on a touch screen PC
• Barcode scanner
• Function buttons
• Label printer

The test rig was designed to run through the various individual checks with as few operator interactions as possible.

The system performs the necessary tests to allow ATD to confirm that the console is correctly built and functioning with as little operator input as possible.

The following components are being tested:

• Table lift motor / assembly
• Tabletop slide and rotation sensors
• Cupholder cover operation
• Armrest heater
• Mood lighting around console
• Table courtesy light
• Operation of switch and illumination inside cover
• HVAC switch pack (CAN communications and part number read)
• Portable Media Interface (connectivity of three connectors)
• Wireless Charger (CAN communications and part number read)
• Touchscreen (CAN communications and part number read)
• USB charging sockets (current measurement)
• 2V auxiliary sockets (current measurement)

The tester is configured from a central editing system, using test scripts to interpret data recipes from configuration tables. 

Sorion’s Sextans test software manages the test process and guides the operator step by step through connecting the armrest and performing the test.

A pass or fail label is generated including the armrest ID and date and time of the test.

All results are stored in Orion, our powerful web based database, allowing for bespoke quality assurance and performance reports to be produced.
