WHAT’S NEW IN SEXTANS

Sorion’s Sextans process control software continues to grow and evolve, with new features continually being added to its capability.

Taking in customer feedback, our team have introduced several new functionalities with the focus on improving usability, expanding capabilities and enhancing performance.

Graphics enhancements

We’ve made it easier to add a range of visualisation options to work instructions – text, images, animation, interactive elements.

Stillaging allocation functionality

Multi-results

Traditionally a process cycle assigns a set of results to a single entity. However, it is quite common for multiple parts to be processed per process cycle.

A new set of result handling functions makes the task of assigning results to multiple different key IDs a breeze.

Compatibility with Stahlwille click tool

Sextans can now be used with the Stahlwille Manoskop tooling. The tool connects directly to the station via Bluetooth without a controller.

Sextans extensions (plugins)

These are developed without disturbing the core code of Sextans and add significant add-on functionality.

For example:
Sextans can now interact with the Seaward Clare HAL HiPot tester (HAL 103).
A 2-way dialogue with the unit allows for full parametrised test routines to be actioned with full results traceability.

User access control enhancements

Driven by customer feedback, user access control has been improved, now allowing you to add:

  • User function check on login to restrict user access
  • User group checks in scripts for custom restrictions

Control file processing from Workspace Manager 1.1.6+

You can now automate actions to stations centrally from Workspace Manager:

  • Logout, exit, reload, restart, reboot, shutdown
  • Upload logs, modifications, and dataset to server
  • Turn system tracing on/off

These are handled at end of cycle and in Read ID

Improved graph plotting

Previously when two data streams were plotted to the same graph, the values of the one stream could be of a completely different range/scale to the other such that one stream would become unreadable. e.g. 0-10V vs 0-5mV
Now it is possible to define different scales and offsets to a separate Y axis for each stream.

Conclusion

The recent updates in Sextans significantly enhance the user experience, functionality and performance of the platform.
