Come Experience Our Technology Open Day – 15 September

In response to the positive feedback we received from our open day last year, which we held to celebrate Sorion’s 25th anniversary, we are hosting a Technology Open Day where we will be providing a number of technical demonstrations.
The event will take place between 09.00 and 17.00 on Thursday 15 September at our offices . It will be a relaxed and enjoyable day where customers, suppliers and business associates will be able to drop by at a time convenient to them.
We will be providing food and drink throughout the day and we would be delighted if you and your colleagues were able to attend. So that we can verify timings and numbers, we’d be grateful if you could confirm whether you and any of your colleagues will be joining us and at roughly what time. Please contact Samantha on 0121 454 8966 / samantha.skinner@sorion.co.uk.
We hope you can make it, as we truly believe it will be an enjoyable event.

A Roller-coaster of Award Successes

On the evening of the 11th May, at the NEC Hilton hotel, the Made in the Midlands 2016 awards were held.
Sorion were shortlisted in the most contested category, SME Manufacturer of the year. It came as a great shock and extremely pleasant surprise to be announced the winner against such talented opposition.
Nick Hartt Systems Director commented: “I am very proud of the whole Sorion team and ourselves on winning the Made in the Midlands SME award. It’s nice to know that the commitment to product, customers, staff and the business is recognised and appreciated by others.”
This win meant Sorion was then shortlisted for the national award for Best Manufacturing Company of the Year, combining SMEs and large companies together which in total had a shortlist of fourteen companies.
On the night the award went to Jaguar Land Rover, a worthy winner investing heavily in product and staff development. Although we didn’t win, we feel honoured to have been shortlisted for the same award as Jaguar Land Rover.
Steve Hayes, Commercial Director commented: “I would like to congratulate the team at Sorion for getting us shortlisted for the Best Manufacturing Company of the Year Award at one of the UK’s largest national manufacturing awards ceremonies. “I couldn’t be more proud that Sorion made it to the national finals and I’m honoured to have been shortlisted for the Best Manufacturing Company of the Year Award.”
Further Capital Investment in 2016
June 2016 saw the completion of a second investment in our facilities in order to allow us to improve upon quality, lead times and to yield greater economies of scale for the direct benefit of our customers. Following-on from the work carried out in 2015 we have now further invested in an additional mezzanine floor complete with new air conditioned offices and additional new IT and telecommunications systems for the expanding design and support teams. We have also re-laid out our production areas to increase our production capacity and provide improved production flow.

Another Successful Exhibition

We showcased our expertise in test equipment and process control solutions at Automechanika Birmingham which took place at the NEC on 7th, 8th and 9th of June.
The exhibition allowed us to meet potential new customers and catch-up with many of our current customers, suppliers and contacts.
Automechanika Birmingham was a great success for us and we are confident that we will gain new customers from the automotive industry as a direct result of our attendance.
Looking ahead, we are please to confirm that on 2nd and 3rd November we will be exhibiting at the Advanced Engineering Show which is taking place at the NEC in Birmingham.
The show is the UK’s largest annual gathering of manufacturers and supply chain engineers across every sector from OEMs and top tier manufacturing organisations.
We exhibited at Advanced Engineering in 2015 which proved to be positive and we are again hopeful for another successful show in 2016.
You can register to visit the Advanced Engineering Show for free here.
