30 YEARS OF SORION

10th September 2020 represents a significant milestone for Sorion Electronics as we celebrate thirty years in business! 

The company has grown to become a global provider of end of line test and guided assembly systems for the automotive, aerospace and manufacturing industries. Today, hundreds of Sorion systems are installed and supported by our engineers around the world.

The timeline below is a brief glimpse into the highlights of our 30 year journey:

10 September 1990

Sorion Electronics Ltd was founded by Managing Director Phil Yates
in a starter unit in Bordersley Green.

1991

Sorion relocated to John-Kempe Way, Sparkhill

1995

2000

The company moved to Unit 12 in Freeth Street, Birmingham

2003

Steve Hayes and Nick Hartt join the company

2004

Sorion Developments was incorporated as part of the group, offering electronics product design and development

2005

Orion was first released in 2005, based on some specific DC Tooling data analysis software developed in 2004

2009

The launch of Sextans process control and test software

2012

Business expansion resulted in taking on additional premises (Unit 14-15 Magreal Industrial Estate)

2016

Sorion won the Made in the Midlands SME Manufacturer of the Year Award

2018

The launch of Orion EMA, a new product that enables us to offer direct equipment monitoring and performance management

2019

We have increased our workspace to a total of 12,000 ft2
